About
Dr George Coltart
Dr George Coltart is a Consultant Dermatologist who practices privately at Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer and adult medical dermatology, including eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea alopecia (male & female) and urticaria. Dr Coltart is a member of the British Society of Dermatological Surgery and is proficient in advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of skin cancers and benign lesions.​
Dr Coltart attended the University of Oxford for the duration of his medical training, intercalating with a bachelor degree in Physiological Sciences. He secured an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship to undertake his dermatology training in Southampton and is a substantive consultant at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Research
Dr Coltart has a PhD in skin cancer immunology from the University of Southampton, which was funded through a prestigious Medical Research Council Clinical Research Training Fellowship. Through this he has developed an award-winning tumour culture system that can model tumour responses to different immunotherapy drugs.
In addition, his other research interests include the investigation of techniques for reducing anxiety during skin surgery, cancer risks associated with narrow-band UVB phototherapy, treatment of pre-cancerous lesions, and AI modelling of inflammatory skin conditions. Dr Coltart has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work widely at national and international conferences.
